then it's....
Duke/UNC (if either wins ACC; if VT wins, then it's open to Texas if they beat Kansas, otherwise BYU/SDSU winner)

pitt is the regular season champ in the toughest conference in america which gives them an automatic 1.

i dont count conference tournies because the top teams dont need to win them since they are already assured a tourney spot.

i personally dislike the conference tournies. i believe it should be like the ivy league, where an auto bid goes out to the team with the best record.

Whether you like or dislike the conf. tourneys, they have a huge amount of influence to where the teams will be seeded. That's just the way it's been for the last 20 years or so.

Pittsburg finished the season on a pretty mediocre rate going 3-3 in their last 6 games. You really think they should be a Number 1 seed with that kind of finish ? I think they will but I don't think they deserve a number 1 seed.

i think they are as deserving as any. they struggled down the stretch, but its the big east.

there 3 big east losses, by a combined 9 points(3,5,1)
i dont count the conference tourney, but if you do, they lost to uconn by 2.

they are in every game. regular season big east champion. i dont see how they cant get a 1 seed.

i think the consensus is pretty sound.

ohio state will be a 1.
pitt will be a 1.
kansas will be a 1.

nc did win the acc, but they split with duke, which is why im waiting on that game. if nc wins, they are the 4th number one imo.
if nc loses, believe it or not, id have san diego state as the 4th one. i know the committee will pick duke if they win, but the mwc is a solid conference this season. sdsu was a co champ and defeated a top 10 team to be outright champ.

OH st - lock for overall # 1
Kansas - definite 2nd #1
Winner of UNC/Duke
Pitt

Number 2's are tougher - Texas/SD/Uconn/ND?/Byu?/Loser of unc-duke?/Florida(if they beat Kentucky)?..etc etc etc :D

Consensus is solid on Kansas and Ohio State but I don't see where you get the solid consenses on Pitt.Lunardi has Notre Dame as his number 1 along with Pitt. However it is very very close between Pitt and Notre Dame and one of them just might give way to Duke or North Carolina. San diego State did not beat a top 10 team to win the Mountain West. They lost to BYU twice when BYU was in full strength but the team that played San Diego State today was a shell of it old self losing it's second best player to injury. There's no way San Digo state deserves a number 1 seed over teams like Pitt, Duke, North Carolina or Notre Dame. It's just not going to happen. They will be content to be a number 2 seed and I don't expect to see them in my final 4 !
BTw Notre Dame had won 13 of their last 14 before losing to louisville in contrast to Pitt losing 3 of their last 6. Notre Dames victories in that stretch included beating Pitt at Pitt.
